Monica Braw, who is one of the most prestigeous journalists focusing on Japan in Sweden, will describe how the idea of Japan has changed in Sweden for the last 50 years through her work. She came as a journalist to Japan for the first time in 1969. She is the former Tokyo correspondent for Svenska Dagbladet. She has a Ph.D. in Japanese history with a dissertation about American censorship of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. She has also written many books about Japan. She has been honored with The Order of the Rising Sun for her efforts to spread knowledge about Japan in Sweden.
*The seminar runs in English, though supplemented with Japanese interpretaion.
*The seminar is co-organized by Japan Institute of Scandinavian Studies and European Institute of Japanese Studies at Stockholm School of Economics.
